Registration is Closed

Time & Location

27/01, 18:00 – 19:00

About the Event

2020 may not only be the year to forget, for many of us it has felt like it has been a whole decade! So what if we could turn back time? Take off the years that 2020 added and give a whole new meaning to the saying: “new year, new me!”?

Epigenetics, the study of inherited characteristics which are not defined by the DNA sequence, might have the answer. A recent breakthrough by researchers at Harvard Medical School found they were able to restore vision in older mice by “reversing the biological clock” and reprogramming cells to be younger.

For our first event of 2021, OneHealthTech Bristol would love to delve into this fascinating discovery as a group of interested non-experts and chat about our impressions and thoughts on the potential impacts. We call this a Virtual Article Cahoot!

Before the event

You can swot up by looking at the following resources (but don’t worry if you don’t have time as we’ll bring everyone up to speed on the day)

On the day

The One HealthTech Bristol Hub is looking forward to discussing this topic with you and pondering on…

  • Is anti-aging really possible?
  • If it is, how could we manage the knock-on effects such as over-population or inequality due to accumulation of wealth, knowledge and power?
  • What compromises would you be prepared to take to stay young?

We’ll all be ‘in cahoots’ together to talk it all over and we’re looking forward to kicking off the year learning something new with you all!

Tickets are FREE, however as One HealthTech is a volunteer-led community we rely on our amazing sponsors and donations from attendees to help us host our well-regarded events. Please consider choosing a donation ticket, especially if you're attending on behalf of your company and can expense it.

We’ve been awarded a Fairer Tech grant from doteveryone to make our events more accessible (woop woop!)

If for any reason there are barriers to engaging in the community we invite anyone to apply for up to £30 (but ask for more if you need, worth a try) per person per event to cover personal costs to improve this. The money can cover just about anything, including but not limited to child/other care, taxis if you’re not able-bodied, trains if you live out in the countryside, a live captioner, recording of the event or loss of earnings if you have a side job along your studies. If you feel it’s a barrier, we agree too. Find out more
